2 way radio?
I need specifics, if you can include website for any information provided would help also. Basically whats the best way to go for this, my friend has a 4 year old son, its in the court order that he buys a 2 way radio to keep in contact. He lives in downtown L.A. and his son lives in another part of the city. What would be a good 2 way radio to buy? Also I know some phone companies offer something call push talk I think but isn't that too complicated for a 4 year old to use? I was thinking it would be more feasible to get a phone with the the walkie talkie feature but my concern is that it would be complicated and more expensive. If you could give insight on this that would be great. I'm thinking something with a range of 15 to 25 miles but I haven't found a good site that offers this and when I do, the people say they only get about 3 miles tops! so I think I know it would probably be easier to get a push talk phone due to the distance of his child. Basically he will have to pay a fee every month for this and it probably is more reliable.

The push to talk (P2T) is the same as the walkie talkie you mention. It is simple and reliable. You just push the button on the phone just like you would push the button on a 2-way radio. They have good coverage in most places. Maybe you can even get the P2T on a kids cell phone. A kids cell phone are simple and are limited to predetermined numbers for safety. For a 2-way radio you would have to use a radio service from a 2-way dealer to get any range. The link below is a start.

How to set up a 2-way radio connection for motorcycle helmets?
What would I need to set up a 2-way radio connection for use in motorcycle helmets? Also, any recommendations on what equipment to buy?

It goes by the name of Chat Box. You and your friends can all get one -put them all on the same channel and go ride in a group of how ever many you want. They just clip inside your helmet.

What is the difference between a CB radio and a 2-way radio?
Hello, I have always used a 2-Way radio when on the deer stand to listen and talk to other hunters in the area. My 2-way radio broke so it is time to replace it. Will a CB radio work the same? Meaning if I have a CB radio, can I still talk to my buddy who is on say channel 7 on his regular 2-way radio? Thanks

CB requires a longer antenna, CB is one big party line. In Ohio, using a radio to hunt is a huge fine, you lose your gun, you can lose your car, as well as your license. Cell phones are an issue too, they look at your call log to make sure you were not using a phone during the hunt.

What 2-Way Radio (Or Similar Product) would you recommend?
I am looking for a (2-way) radio of some kind to talk to my fiance when her mom won't let her on the phone. Does anyone have some recommendations? We don't have high-income [I work minimum wage part-time, and she doesn't work], so I'm trying to avoid cell phone services. Please give me any suggestions, aside from cell phones, to communicate with her when her mom/dad cut off phone, web, and the like. [Ranging From 5 Miles to 25 Miles Distance Locally]

CB, you'll get about 5 miles, no privacy of course, but no license is required either. anything 2 way that has more range than CB you'll need a license.
